  • What is the difference between FOMAS (Friends of Metro Animal Services) and LMAS (Louisville Metro Animal Services)?

    LMAS is the city run, open admissions shelter. They take in stray animals, provide animal control services, and adopt out animals to the public. FOMAS is a separate nonprofit organization that is dedicated to raising funds to support LMAS and the animals that they care for. 

  • I have a stray or need to surrender my pet, can FOMAS help me?

    FOMAS does not directly provide any animal services. To turn in a stray or surrender a pet you must contact LMAS. https://louisvilleky.gov/government/animal-services

  • My pet is lost, can FOMAS help me?

    FOMAS does not directly provide any animal services. To view lost animals currently at the shelter, go to https://louisvilleky.gov/government/animal-services/services/report-and-search-lost-and-found-animals.

  • I am ready to adopt, can FOMAS help me?
